ASK was opened in 2019 in Merritt Island, Florida. ASK's mission is to provide quality, caring and evidenced-based mental health care with a holistic approach, acknowledging and welcoming the healing process in spirit, soul and body. ASK stands for "Ask Seek Knock" from the scripture in Matthew 7:7-8 - “Ask, and it will be given to you; Seek and you will find; Knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” The name and logo express that when we are courageous enough to open up our hearts to change, and when we are met with love, compassion and acceptance, then healing can truly begin.

Although our faith is important to us and the foundation of what we do, we welcome everyone, and only do Christian based counseling upon request.

Healing is hard work, but we can find joy in the journey!

Christopher Knopf, Licensed Minister

Chris graduated from University of Southern Indiana in 1999 with a Bachelor's in Occupation/General Studies. Chris went on to pursue a career in firefighting. Chris was previously a firefighter in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, until he took a contract position with the Department of Defense, which led him to working as a firefighter in Iraq in 2008, and in Afghanistan in 2012. In 2011, Chris experienced a crisis in his life that led him to temporarily put firefighting on hold, and he went into full-time ministry. Chris began his ministry work by going to Ghana, Africa, and worked with groups on ending child slavery there. Chris also began working with a couple of different ministries on Crisis Response through a local House of Prayer and Crisis Response International. He became certified in CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) and also took additional training in individual crisis intervention and peer support and application with children. Chris completed a Discipleship Training School at Youth With a Mission (YWAM), and led a mission trip to Kurdistan in northern Iraq during the crisis with ISIS. Chris worked with refuge families in Kurdistan. Chris went back to Kurdistan at the height of the situation with ISIS in 2014, and stood on the frontlines with the soldiers fighting ISIS, teaching them wound care in combat, and ministering to them in their great time of need. His mission work has also taken him to Israel, Ukraine, Puerto Rico, and other places in the world. Chris has a heart for discipleship and individual counseling with young men as they discover their identity in Christ. In 2015, Chris became a licensed Minister through World Ministry Fellowship. Between 2015-2019, Chris worked with youth in groups and individually as a leader in Young Life. In 2019, Chris decided to go back to his career as a firefighter, and returned to his previous job of firefighter at Cape Canaveral Air Force Base in Florida. Chris has since been working with a group called Heart Connections International, working on equipping people to connect with their spirit to spirit relationship with God, and learning their design, who God created them to be.

Some of Chris' specialities as a licensed minister include:

  • Extensive knowledge and training in peer support and debriefing
  • Critical Incident Stress Management Certification
  • Individual discipleship with young men and youth
  • Missions
  • Inner Healing (a spiritual based model for working through traumas)

Chris can work individually with people as a Licensed Minister, and together Chris and JoAnna can do couples/premarital counseling.
